The lovely waterfront town of Solomons, Maryland is the setting for a new plein air festival! If you’ve never experienced an event of this kind, consider visiting the picturesque Solomons community for a weekend of art and entertainment. Plein air painting is painting that takes place outdoors, but what makes Solomons-Paint the Town truly exciting is that the event is a competition for the participating artists.

On Thursday, when the festival begins, each artist must start with a blank canvas. This means that every work of art that you see at the festival is created within a very short period of time. On the fourth day of festival, all the works are hung and offered for sale.

With an "Iron Artist" quality, Solomons-Paint the Town will be an exciting four days as visitors witness and experience the creative process - the sight, sound, and smell of the artist's world. From the first brush stroke to the final flourish, artists will display their skills for the assembled crowds and compete for cash prizes.

This exciting artistic spectacle is coupled with a wide array of programs and activities for the public. Scattered around Solomons, various attractions, restaurants, and businesses will present programs, special discounts, exhibits, and more throughout the Solomons community.

The Quick Draw at the Calvert Marine Museum and the Artsy Activities at Annmarie Garden are just a few examples. And of course, the many shops, restaurants, and galleries of Solomons, will be open! This creative and festive event, all hosted within the lovely waterfront community of Solomons, Maryland, will delight visitors of all ages. You won’t want to miss the creative drama of Solomons-Paint the Town!
